One of the problems that arise when we work with sublimation is those related to prints; When we want to deliver quality work and our product is ruined by printing it becomes a headache. Next, we are going to mention some of the most common problems when printing sublimation paper and how to solve them, this information will help you to prevent or to be able to solve as soon as possible to avoid wasting your raw material such as the paper, the inks.

The three problems that we will be addressing are:
Ink stain on the edge of the sublimation paper
Ant trail
Lines when printing

STAIN ON THE EDGE
This stain commonly located on the narrower edges of our sheet is usually caused because our sheet is curled, it is enough to have a little raised corner to notice this and know that it will cause us a problem in the printer. The best thing that can happen is that the printer does not manage to drag the paper, but if it starts to print we will hear a rustling of the paper and we will get a stain. The reason why the sheet begins to curl is due to humidity, so we recommend keeping the sheets in their bag tightly closed until we are going to use them, and putting back the ones that we will no longer use.
Not all is lost, if you have some unprinted sublimation sheets that are already a little curled, you can eliminate the humidity with your heat press machine at 150º for 5-10 seconds and with good pressure so that they flatten.

ANT PATH
As we have mentioned on other occasions, the ant path can be caused by a combination of different factors, here we will mention some possible causes.

A) PAPER CONFIGURATION
One of the characteristics of the paper is the drying speed, so this factor should be considered when setting up our printing. If we have a medium to slow drying paper and we use a high print quality, this implies that we will be using more ink and therefore it will take time to absorb, the rollers will touch the fresh ink and leave a mark on the path.
B) PAPER WASTE
Surely more than once it has happened to you that the paper jammed in the printer because it was not correctly positioned, the sheet was bent, etc. When this happens we have to remove the sheet manually making a little effort, by doing this we can cause paper residues to remain on the small rollers, and later this causes marks because, as we mentioned earlier, the ink is still fresh.

LINES WHEN PRINTING
Although it is not a stain, it is a pattern of faded lines that are visible in the print and that will also affect the transfer at the time of sublimation due to the scarcity of ink. This lack of ink can be easily corrected by cleaning the heads so that the ink can fill the injection system, the simplest way to verify that it is the lack of ink is we only have to perform a printing test. Head cleaning can take from 1 to 2 minutes, and it is a procedure that can be performed periodically depending on the frequency of use of your sublimation printer, it is even advisable to do it when we have left the printer unused for several weeks. In summary, we can say that head cleaning is a good practice that we should perform periodically as part of the maintenance of our printer. After browsing through this information we can conclude that sublimation requires many details to obtain the desired results.
